ｉｚａで紹介されていた、「中日を優勝に導いたソフトウェアダートフィッシュ」を調べてみた。

前回のイスラエルの「バスケットボールが上手くなるソフトウェア」に引き続いて、スポーツものなのだが、この分野はプロスポーツの存在により、単純な仕組みのものが、高価格で売れるという特性を持っているのかもしれない。

中身を見ると、スイスのスポーツ向け映像コンテンツ管理ソフトウェアの会社だ。

仕組みそのものは、ハイテクという訳でもないが、巧みにニーズを付いており、ビジュアルに訴えている点がわかりやすさの秘訣だろう。

で、ＶｅｎｔｕｒｅＳｏｕｒｃｅによると、元々は放送局向けのスポーツ映像編集ツールを作っていたようだ。つまり、ボールの軌跡を示したり、プレーヤーをハイライトしたりと解説者が使う例のソフトウェアだ。
それが、その後トレーニング向けの低価格パッケージを出したという流れのようである。
これもやはり、ベンチャーのビジネスとしては、最初特色のある、誰が買うのか極めて明確な高価格のソフトを出して、その後、そのすそ野を広げるという典型的なアプローチである。
総調達金額は推定で＄９Ｍ。２００４年時点での予想売り上げは＄６Ｍ。

特化型お約束通りの＄１０Ｍの売り上げで一度アタマをうって、現在はすそ野の広いトレーニング市場向けで売り上げ金額を増やしていこうということなのだろう。
本当に、イスラエル／ヨーロッパのソフトウェアは、こうした特化型で他で調達できないものが多くて面白いなぁ。
